Hello everyone,

I have been encountering a problem lately when I try to model a radiant floor in OpenStudio.

I am currently using the OpenStudio 1.10.0 plugin for SketchUp.

My building is a residential building with 6 stories plus 2 parking lots underground. After setting all thermal zones and space types, I use a HVAC system template found in BCL(by apply measure). The HVAC template I used named AEDG Office HVAC radiant DOAS.

In this case, I did not assign zone equipment and air loop to parking levels and unconditioned space. It shows errors:

Process exited with a non-zero exit code of: 1 Error report file indicates that the process did not complete successfully

IP: IDF line~63285 Object=CONSTRUCTION, name=RADIANT INTERIOR FLOOR, Required Field=[Outside Layer] was blank.

IP: IDF line~65532 Object=CONSTRUCTION:INTERNALSOURCE, name=RADIANT FLOOR, Required Field=[Outside Layer] was blank.

IP: Possible incorrect IDD File IDD Version:"IDD_Version 8.4.0" Version in IDF="8.4" not the same as expected="8.4" Possible Invalid Numerics or other problems

IP: Errors occurred on processing IDF file. Preceding condition(s) cause termination.

But when I assigned radiant heating to every thermal zone(include parking and unconditioned space), it works.Does anyone know how to fix it?

Thank you for any help!Let me know if you need any further information.

It might be that you have CONSTRUCTION:INTERNALSOURCE constructions set on all your floors and ceilings. You should only have this construction on the floor/ceiling that is thermally active (and its opposite in the other zone). The other floors and ceilings should be just normal construction. This is probably why your simulation runs when you put Radiant Floor in all your zones and crashes when you don't.
