HVAC - what is the best system for my project?

Hi! I'm working on my first project using OpenStudio. My goal is to predict my building consumptions and to optimize HVAC system setpoints. Until the moment I was using ideal air loads and now I'm trying to add the AVAC system but I have no knowledge on this matter. My building is a supermaket with just 1 zone and I would like to use HVAC system for cooling/heating based on electricity(no gas). Do I have to create loops or do I have any simple solution? What is the HVAC system that you suggest? Thank you

Do you know if the heating is done with electric resistance or with a heat pump?

For the work in case the heating can be done in both ways. Can you show me how it can be done using a heat pump?

You can add a Packaged Rooftop Heat Pump using the default HVAC system templates:

First, add the loop:

Then, connect the zone:

Thank you for you help and time! I'm using ReadVarsEso to obtain values of the outputs to create my own graphs. Can you tell me what are the OpenStudio output that reflects this HVAC system consumption?

Check out the eplusout.rdd file. You probably want something like these:

Output:Variable,*,Air System Total Heating Energy,hourly; !- HVAC Sum [J]
Output:Variable,*,Air System Total Cooling Energy,hourly; !- HVAC Sum [J]
Output:Variable,*,Air System Fan Electric Energy,hourly; !- HVAC Sum [J]

Can you tell me how can I extract that information to excel? Until the moment I selected, on OpenStudio output variables, the outputs that I needed and then executed the ReadVarsEso.exe file in same directory of my *.eso file in order to create a *.csv file. As those outputs you refer are not in OpenStudio "Output Variables" tab I don't know how to get them. Thank you

You can use this measure to request an output variable not shown in the 'Output Variable's tab. You should add that measure in the Measures Tab and input the output variable name from the rdd file that you want.

Thank you for your answer Eric Ringold! I'm trying to figure out how to add that measure to "Measures" tab but with no success until now. First I tried "Find Measures on BCL" but I can't find that measure. Then I download the measure and put it on my "Measures" folder and then "Sync Project Measures with Library", also with no success. Can you tell me step by step how can it can be done? Thank you
