Dear All, According to written in one link the following gbXML element types are imported from gbXML to the OpenStudio Model: -Construction - Material -ScheduleDay -ScheduleWeek -Schedule -Campus - Building -Space -Surface -SubSurface. In my project, I modeled one project and exported in gbXML format without materials and other factors. Since, I thought it is better to assign material in OS .Now after importing gbXML into OS I do not know how I can assign the above elements types such as materiel. Because , my project is huge I wonder how can do them. Yours sincerely,

Hi @shahryar I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, are you asking how to import materials/constructions from a gbXML file into OpenStudio or are you asking how to specify new materials/constructions in OpenStudio and then apply those to model imported without those objects? If it is the second question this link might help.

Dear Macumber, Hi, thank you so much for replying me . I wanted to ask you both how to import materials/constructions from a gbXML file into OpenStudio and specify new materials/constructions in OpenStudio. I exported one project without applying material . I wonder if it is possible to apply material in another program such as Ecotect and export in .rad or another format and import into OS to run E+.Yours sincerely

Hi @shahryar, the link I posted above covers how to make new constructions in OpenStudio and assign them to your model, you can do this at the building level so it does not require you to specify the construction for every surface.

The code that translates constructions and materials from gbXML to OSM is here and here.

OpenStudio can import gbXML files but it cannot import rad files

Hi i have question about shading object export from OS to gbXML and opposite. The gbXML files was not included shading (external) object -> OS doesn't import/export shading object to gbxml, is it right ?

Currently (as of 1.10.0) OpenStudio can import shading surfaces from gbXML but does not export them.
