hello!

I aimed exporting a Sketchup modell to gbXML format. I tried 2 ways, but none of them worked. Can anyone help me?

Method 1: I installed Sketchup 2015 and OpenStudio 1.14 (Energy plus 8.4 is installed). After starting Sketchup i recieve this message: Cannot locate Data Dictionary file Energy+.idd - Open Studio will not be loaded.

Method 2: To eliminate this problem, I intalled Sketchup 2013 and OpenStudio 1.11 (Energy plus 8.1 is installed). Sketchup and OS starts normally, but in the Plugins/Legacy Openstudio menu the import/export button is not visible.

Thank you for your advice, Peter

Make sure you use the newer versions of OpenStudio that work with the ".OSM" file format. Not the legacy OpenStudio Plug-in that works only with ".IDF" files. The current major release is 1.9.0 and is at the top of this page, above the legacy download link.

You can import and export gbXML from the plugin or the stand alone OpenStudio application.

hi David!

Thanks for your comment.

I would clarify my exporting demands: - I have an .skp Skechup file, including the building's geometry. I want to translate this model to gbXML to use this fileformat by a 3rd software. - OR it is also possible to use the .ifc qeometry file, and convert it to gbXML.

OS 1.9.0 can import IDF, gbXML, SDD, IFC (just for BIMserver)

Can you suggest me a workflow, for this translating process?

Is it just a generic SketchUp files? If things If it isn't already well organized and if there isn't data associated with the objects it will take some work. If your end goal is gbXM, there are a few tools that will write out gbXML from SketchUp, OpenStudio included. To use OpenStudio you need to organize geometry into spaces, shading groups, and interior partition groups. SketchUp also has native IFC support, but that takes some work as well.

What is the scope of what you want to put in the gbXML? Just geometry If more what else?

The SketchUp and the IFC file is saved from Archicad 19. Unfortunately OS do not recognize these models' spaces. The gbXML should contain, the building geometry and spaces within. The energy simulation is driven by DesignBuilder. Is it possible to get this gbXML from an imported modell, or i must draw again the geometry in Sketchup?

Have you tried using BimServer to import your IFC file into OpenStudio. See documentation here. Once you have an OSM file you should be able to export the spaces and geometry to a gbXML.
