It isn't clear what you are selecting when the edit tab appears empty? You can't inspect a water use connection. Clicking it is a hyperlink and brings you into a view with a list of water use equipment instances. There is a drop zone to add water use equipment on. If you then select one of those instances you should be able to edit it. You can also edit the water use definitions in the loads tab.

If you can describe in more detail what is happening I can try and figure out why it is happening.

For reference here is a link to documentation on service water heating in OpenStudio.

@David Goldwasser Currently I am working on the hvac tab as per the video tutorial. I added the water use equipment from the drop zone. when I click on the instances I am unable to edit it. like I want to attach the water fixtures to the restroom but when I click on the edit tab, its appears empty.

So I tested this on 1.5.0 on Windows 7 just to confirm it works. I have a few other questions.

  • What operating system are you using
  • Are you seeing similar issues elsewhere in the edit tab (for example other HVAC objects)
  • If you make a fresh model and just add a water use connection and equipment, do you still see the same issue. Wondering if it is a issue with the model or just something unique to your configuration.

@David Goldwasser thanks for your concern. I tried to edit again and this time it worked. No idea why it was not working earlier. my operating system is windows 8.1

thanks
