Refrigeration Walk-In Construction U-value Input Error

asked 2015-09-21 14:01:31 -0600

updated 2015-11-08 11:04:53 -0600

In OpenStudio 1.8.5, when I input u-values for a refrigeration walk in system, the numbers of inputs are immediately changed to another number. For instance, if I input my desired u-value of 0.0433 Btu/hft2F, OS will automatically change it to -96.856808 Btu/hft2F. This can be found in the HVAC Systems tab, under the Refrigeration drop down, in grid view, on the walk in construction tab. The only way I can enter the values I want, is to enter 96.9435 which then gets automatically changed to 0.0433. When I change the program settings to SI units, the values are changed to 805.8418 W/m2*K which doesn't convert to either value I entered. If I try entering the equivalent in SI units, it is changed to a seemingly random number if I change back to IP units. Is this an error, or are the values I am trying to enter out of range and automatically changed to something that OS accepts, or is something else going on inside the program? I've attached a screenshot. I am using OpenStudio 1.8.5 on Windows 7, 64 bit.

Could you give this a try on the OpenStudio 1.9.0 release candidates and see if this is still an issue?

Linux

Win64

Macumber, I just tried it in the Win64 1.9.0 release candidate and still had the same issue. It is doing this for all of the walkin construction u-values. If it helps, here are some numbers I can enter in the HVAC systems grid view and the numbers the program changes them to. I have OS set to IP units.

(0.00; -96.899808), (0.01, -96.889808), (0.02, -96.879808), (0.03, -96.869808), (0.04, -96.859808), (0.05, -96.849808), (0.10, -96.799808), (1.00, -95.899808), (10.0, -86.899808), (100, 3), (100., 3.100192), (100.0, 3.1), (100.00, 3.10)

We filed an issue and Evan fixed the problem in thiscommit. I can provide an installer package for you (@kramerica) to verify the fix on request. Just email me at kyle.benne@nrel.gov and I will send you a link. This will be included in the 1.9.0 release.

Thanks Evan and Kyle. I just tried the OS 1.9.0 Win64 release candidate and can verify that this problem has been fixed. I can confirm that in grid view and layout view, using both IP and SI units that it is working correctly.
