Is there any way to add a custom HVAC system in the list of options?

asked 2015-09-17 02:58:33 -0600

Can I add my own systems to the list of systems that pop up when you click on the + on the HVAC tab?

I know I can just write a measure and use "apply now", but this is less convenient, and I'm curious.

I've been brewing on an idea to build the hvac library on the right with Measure instead of what we have now which is a unwieldy osm file with all of the components in it. Right now when you drag and drop something from the library what is going on is a call to ModelObject::clone which clones the component from the library to your working model.

A Measure based solution could be setup to "fire" the supporting Measure when you drag and drop, basically becoming a different UX for the apply Measure now paradigm. This could be user customizable and support full systems as well.

I don't think so. I'm not exactly a user, so your move.

No, you can't add a custom HVAC system to this list. As you guessed, the way to add custom HVAC is through a Measure via "Apply Measure Now." As background, you can't add one here because the methods being called in this dialog are compiled into the C++ source code.
