That input field refers to the location within a list of material layers at which a temperature calculation is performed, which can be useful when simulating radiant systems. The input is described in the I/O reference here, and details about how the temperature is calculated within the construction can be found here. The temperature can be output by including the output variable Surface Internal Source Location Temperature.

I believe that the "temperature calculation requested after layer number" field is not doing anything in a simulation. I have tried different simulation runs on the same model with different layer numbers defined and the Surface Internal Source Location output are all the same. I have also tried to look for a specific output in the .rdd file for that field but there is none. It looks like its been an issue for some time now. I ran my simulations in EP 8.4.

Good catch, @cduarte. Looks like there's an issue filed for that.
