As part of my PhD study I have to do with building-simulation. It is not the main part of my work and so there is not that much time for trial-and-error learning. Does anyone offer online-workshops (skype for example)? I think I would need 3 x 2h or something like that :). Questions regarding integrating measured data into HVAC, implementing HVAC, etc.

There are number of videos available on NREL's YouTube channel. This can be a good starting point, please have a look. There is also EnergyPllus workshop coming up in Atlanta on September 28-29, 2015. You may also look into that (if your budget allows :) ).

There are firms that offer professional on-line courses with live trainers for OpenStudio and EnergyPlus. I'll refrain from advertising in this venue though, and suggest that a google search may turn up some alternatives if you're willing to pay for the service. If you're looking for free, then the tutorial and video resources at openstudio.net are your best bet.

Those videos are really old and not that helpful.

Big Ladder Software has multiple workshop topics for EnergyPlus and OpenStudio. These are normally organized for in-person formats but can be delivered via private webinars.

DISCLAIMER: I am the lead trainer at Big Ladder Software responsible for developing and delivering our workshops.

The EnergyPlus website has a Support & Training page with other resources. The OpenStudio Coalition website also has pages for beginner tutorials and advanced tutorials, as well as reference documents.

I also wanted to add that I found another company that provides training (the EnergyPlus affiliated website only includes three vendors at the time of this answer (06/20/2023)). Their name is PSD and their website is here. I personally have been struggling to find training anywhere that isn't self-guided (I am open to in-person or remote). I found that Big Ladder Software provides training but considering it's all the way out in Colorado, the chances that I'll be able to swing that kind of work trip so far out (I am based on the Georgia) is next to null.

Hopefully some business/enterprise sees this and opens up something closer to the East Coast of the U.S.!

I also emailed the buildingenergysoftwaretools that the training profiles are hosted on and recommended they add the PSD company, considering there are so few entities out there to provide this kind of training. (Note: I am not affiliated with PSD, just someone happy to see more training opportunities!)
