OpenStudio BCL down?

I'm using OpenStudio Application V 1.11.0 (SDK 3.11.0)

I wanted to download a new measure, but when I click on "Find Measures on BCL" the menu titles are there but it is otherwise blank - no dropdowns and no measures to be found. Same if I try searching for "Find Measures" from the Components & Measures toolbar. I am connected to the interenet. I tried browsing for measures on https://bcl.nlr.gov/ but that too showed a blank page whenever I clicked "browse"

Has anyone else run into this? I feel like it was working for me just last week.

The bcl.nrel.gov was dropped, and replaced with bcl.nlr.gov, with no redirect whatsoever.

The BCL address has been hardcoded in the OpenStudio SDK for ages, so this broke every release of the OpenStudio Application to date (up to 1.11.0 included). (And it also affects the rare people that may be using OpenStudio SDK RemoteBCL directly)

If this is the issue you're having, to restore the BCL to a working state, I have a quick workaround you can use:

BCL should be back online now. Note the change in URL to bcl.nlr.gov. bcl.nrel.gov will continue working until May 29th, 2026.

I am now not able to connect to the bcl repository through OpenStudio--do I need to change a setting somewhere because of the URL change?

And--the links on https://bcl.nlr.gov/results/?fq=bundl... still use the nrel URL--and I haven't figured out if I can get to the new URL.

Hoping someone has figured this out.

Solved--changing the download URL from nrel to nlr appears to work.

The download URLs are now fixed on BCL. Let me know if they are working without needing to change them manually now. thanks!

@kflemin it looks like searching BCL via OpenStudio App v1.10 isn't updated for the new URL -- it only shows a blank screen of measures and components no matter what category is selected. Is this unique to v1.10?

The bcl.nrel.gov url is unfortunately completely gone. And since OSApp is a compiled program, that's just the way it is, we can't do much about it. We have updated the url to https://bcl.nlr.gov/ but haven't released an OSApp version with it yet... https://github.com/openstudiocoalitio...

I experienced the same issue where I couldn't access the online BCL while using a company internal network (intranet). Try using a Wi-Fi network or a mobile hotspot.
