I have set up 2 plant loops, the first is a loop with 2-indirect hot water tanks feeding the water use connection. The second loop is a single boiler which provides hot water to closed coils within the indirect hot water tanks. I hard sized the tank volumes to 0.946 m3, with a hard sized capacity of 57800 W, which is 1/2 the estimated peak service water heating load. As these tanks have no energy source other than the closed coils, I arbitrarily set the Heater Fuel Type as NaturalGas, with a Heater Thermal Efficiency of 1. As there is no fuel type for this type of setup Is this correct. I set the Off Cycle and On Cycle Parasitic Fuel Consumption Rate as 0 for both. To simplify the model, I set both the Use Side and Source Side Effectiveness as 1 for both. I also set the Source Side Design Flow Rate to 0.0002512 m3/s which 1/2 the peak flow. For the boiler loop I hard sized the capacity to 128500 W which is double the hard sized capacity of the storage tanks and factors the 0.9 efficiency of the boiler. I Autosized the Design Flow Rate. Is this the correct approach and is there a way to Autosize this system based on the Water Use Connection?image description
