OpenStudio Consuming Disk Space – Huge Temp Files & Simulation Freeze (v1.9.0)

Hi everyone,

I'm using OpenStudioApplication 1.9.0 energyplus 25.1.0 and After creating a few fault scenarios and running simulations (only tweaking some parameters), OpenStudio froze during one run. Then I noticed that all of my C: drive storage was suddenly consumed. After investigating, I found a huge temp file at:C:\Users\AU\AppData\Local\Temp\osmodel-XXXX\resources\run\ Inside the run folder, the eplusout.sql file alone was nearly 25 GB. I tried deleting the temp folder, and after restarting my laptop, OpenStudio started again. But now: I can't run the previous .osm model — it either fails or starts eating up my C: drive again. Even with a new model, it takes forever to start simulations. Temp files keep filling up my C: drive. Is this a known issue in OpenStudio 1.9.0? Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Can't be sure, but I suspect you're asking EnergyPlus to track (too) many output variables (i.e. oversized SQL, ESO files), most likely at (short) timestep frequencies. Purge the oversized temp files/folders, preferably reboot the PC. Re-test using a copy of the OSM, keeping only a handful of essential output variables and picking hourly reporting frequencies. If successful, incrementally add more variables and/or change reporting frequencies.
