Transitioning from eQuest to Trace 3D Plus for LEED Building Energy Modeling

After evaluating building energy simulation software options, our engineering consultancy has selected Trace 3D Plus to replace eQuest as our primary simulation tool for LEED projects. While eQuest has served us well, its steep learning curve for newcomers and manual ASHRAE 90.1 baseline generation (which takes a considerable amount of time) prompted our search for alternatives. We primarily handle commercial office buildings and manufacturing facilities seeking LEED certification. What challenges did you encounter during implementation for those who have transitioned from eQuest to Trace 3D? Is Trace 3D Plus suitable for our project portfolio, or would you recommend alternative software better aligned with LEED modeling requirements? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Admitting that I am very biased from using the DesignBuilder interface for E+ in the last 15-ish years.... I will say that:

1) I'm very picky.

2) I'm very focused on making my workflow as streamlined and effective as possible while maintaining exceptional quality.

3) DesignBuilder's auto-generation of the LEED baseline is stellar. (As always, need some personal review /editing, but is a huge timesaver)

4) Similarly, their auto-generation of the LEED MEPC is both stellar and another huge timesaver.

In addition, they use a hierarchical navigation and editing scheme which makes QA / QC so much more effective. Yes, I'm a fan! (But you asked.)

ps, they also have some decent training webinars available on their site. There's one that's relevant called “Streamline Your ASHRAE 90.1 and LEED Workflow” here: https://designbuilder.co.uk/training/...
