OpenStudio "AirLoop Unitary System" object

Hi.

I was looking for how to build the water sourced heat pump at AHU, my case is DOAS.

With some research, decided to use "AirLoop Unitary System" which can be connected to water sourced plant loop.

Few questions pop up for this setup.

Q1. That unitary system already having its own fan which is mostly of CAV, so decided to turn off that fan within unitary system and place Variable flow fan after that unitary system.

I ran it and when it is checking the hourly data, it seems working on my end.

Q2. Not applying at AHU, but if we place "AirLoop Unitary System" at thermal zone level (within thermal zone tab in OpenStudio), it is checked that this equipment is not delivering ventilation air at all. Is there best practice I can have unitary system with variable fan at thermal zone equipment level?

Thank you

I am unable to add pictures to a comment, so my comment is in the answer section.

Q1: There is already a variable speed fan Unitary System object in the default library, so I am not sure why you are trying model a VAV fan separately: image descriptionQ2: I tried to recreate your problem, but encountered another one. This will have to be resolved before the system will work at the AirLoop or zone level:https://github.com/NREL/OpenStu... ....alternatively, you could manually create the necessary connections or write a measure to create the connections.

Thanks for replying and testing. For my question 1, the main reason placing additional fan is, I have air-source heat pump, and only water-sourced airloop unitary system object is having VAV fan. Based on the system difference, trying to see that method works.

For the second question, can I get to know how to manually create the connection?

Thank you again!
