Correct settings for setback temperature in DesignBuilder
I have a DesignBuilder model made by someone else where we have an occupancy temperature and setback temperature in a zone that is not being followed. In the results we see that the temperature is always the occupancy temperature and never setback even though we have times where this should apply. We managed to activate it by setting the HVAC schedule to 0.5 for the time that there is no occupancy.
My question is: What is the correct way to activate the setback temperature? In my understanding it always works if in either Simple or Detailed HVAC the schedule for the HVAC system is "On 24/7" and you have an occupancy schedule where there is no occupancy (0 during x amount of time). From what I have seen this works with varying temperatures that I would expect with these 2 temperature settings, but now I am not sure. If this method doesn't work it means I will always have to make a seperate HVAC schedule to ensure the setpoints are being followed which just seems like a lot of extra work to me. Has anyone experienced this issue and what is the adviced solution?
