I am trying to test different IDF files to know if they were model according to plans and standards. I get files from different versions (totally) to different way of inserting data like using people for meter acquire to total people in a zone. or electricity. it can be in a lot of variations.

Do anyone know a tool/ function/ library for that? What about running the file in EnergyPlus on the right version and extract the input data from the output file?

or maybe use a version-conversion and then extract the data? (this option still leaves me with a lot of ways that each one can create every paragraph in the input files. too many options)

Have you tried eppy? https://eppy.readthedocs.io/en/latest...

You can develop Python codes to programmatically extract the input information you need.

See if this documentation helps. You may want to find docs for a more recent version than E+ 9.3.

@sashadf1 Thank you for your answer. This is a tool that can make all the files on the same version level I am looking for a way to collect the info of the building that were use in the input file.

If anyone know a tool / developer library or anything that can give me head jump to a solution.

But thank you very much
