The OpenStudioApplication remains a very good (free) option for importing, visualizing and interacting with third-party IDF files. Below is the US DOE Prototype Warehouse, imported as an IDF (rather than simply opened as an OSM) : same available information when it comes to geometry, constructions, etc.
It's limited. But from what I'm reading, it seems your requirements would be well supported.
