Revision history [back]

This is a warning that is meant to remind the user to use a Controller:WaterCoil object to manage the operation of a water coil. The AirloopHVC object has an input for a controller:

AirLoopHVAC,
Typical Terminal Reheat 1, !- Name
  , !- Controller List Name

This input should not be blank if a water coil is used in the air loop, and that water coil needs to be controlled IF it is not part of a system that can control the water coil. If a water coil sits on the air loop as a stand alone component, then the water coil needs a controller, otherwise a controller is not needed. So it depends on the system type whether or not a controller is needed.

This warning will not show up if these types of system are used:

COILSYSTEM:COOLING:DX
COILSYSTEM:HEATING:DX
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYSYSTEM
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARY:FURNACE:HEATONLY
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARY:FURNACE:HEATCOOL
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYHEATONLY
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYHEATCOOL
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYHEATPUMP:AIRTOAIR
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYHEATPUMP:WATERTOAIR
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYHEATCOOL:VAVCHANGEOVERBYPASS
AIRLOOPHVAC:UNITARYHEATPUMP:AIRTOAIR:MULTISPEED

The issue here is if you have correctly specified the necessary inputs or if the program needs to be revised to include other system types that are valid WITHOUT a water coil controller. If the simulation results show that the water coil is operating correctly, then you do not need a water coil controller and can disregard this warning. If the coil is not operating correctly, then add a water coil controller and verify correct operation.

Please advise if this warning is issued incorrectly and provide the configuration that cause this warning to inadvertently report.
