I ended up creating a separate RetailStandalone model using the "Create DOE Prototype Building" BCL measure, and importing its loads and schedules into my mixed-use model using the File - Load Library menu option. (Got the idea from this post: https://unmethours.com/question/63882/openstudio-application-saving-space-types-schedules-construction-sets/)
