I'm not sure where you landed on this, but I wanted to point you to a built in E+ feature that makes setting up parametric analysis in a single IDF fairly straight forward: See the E+ Parametric Documentation.
So you basically create 1 master IDF and then use the parametric objects to define your variety of cases. When you simulate the main IDF, EnergyPlus has a pre-processor that creates IDFs that fills in the changes outlined in the parametric objects. It took me a bit of trial and error, but is pretty straight forward compared to looping in an external parametric step.
