Hello everyone,

I’m working on a simulation project in DesignBuilder, and I need to model a tempered water loop for HVAC that will connect to a VRF condenser. My goal is to use a tempered loop (60–90°F) to supply energy to the water-cooled condensers of my VRF systems.

The purpose of this design is to allow simultaneous heating and cooling while recovering energy between the systems. Is anyone able to help me understand how to model this type of loop in DesignBuilder?

essentially my question is how to create a tempered water loop in Design builder.

Thank you,

In DesignBuilder, this approach is typically implemented by adding a fluid-to-fluid heat exchanger on the condenser loop to stabilise loop temperatures.

For workflows and component placement, see the fluid-to-fluid heat exchanger section of the DesignBuilder Help.

Thank you very much indeed for your answer. I am wondering if I can connect the VRF system to such a loop for heating and cooling modes. and how I can control it ?!
