HVAC System Configuration with Heat Recovery in OpenStudio
I'm having trouble setting up my HVAC system in OpenStudio. The goal is to simulate a test room in my laboratory with the following HVAC configuration:
A chiller unit with a water-cooled condenser:
- Cooling Production: The evaporator of the unit cools a chilled water circuit, capable of supplying water at temperatures as low as 2°C.
- Heating Production (Heat Recovery): The condenser of the unit recovers the heat absorbed by the evaporator and transfers it to a hot water circuit, which can reach up to 50°C.
- A storage tank (ballon) is planned to store the hot water recovered by the condenser. This tank acts as a thermal accumulator before the heat is distributed.
The Air Handling Unit (AHU) serves as the interface between the conditioned water circuits and the test room environment:
- It is equipped with a cooling coil (supplied by the chilled water from the buffer tank) and a heating coil (supplied by the hot water from the hot buffer tank).
- The AHU manages air renewal (mechanical ventilation) by introducing fresh outdoor air, treating it (cooling/heating/dehumidifying), and distributing it evenly throughout the room.
- The AHU's heating coil can be supplemented by an electric resistance heater for additional heat supply or for precise temperature control in heating mode.
I have already added a chiller loop, a hot water loop, and a ventilation loop, and connected all three. However, I keep getting an error saying that no thermal zone is connected, even though I have already inserted the thermal zone in the demand side of the ventilation loop. How can I properly configure a system like this?
@davillamariano can you upload your model to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. and then share a URL for others to download? That would help others provide better solutions.
Here’s the link to my .osm model: https://drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Any help would be appreciated!
